Posted by Glenn Moore
Companies rely on EDI to exchange some of your most critical and time-sensitive business documents such as purchase orders, material releases, invoices, and shipping notices. As supply chains grow in scope and complexity, EDI departments are finding it difficult to keep pace with growing technology and personnel requirements.  Many companies facing these technology and personnel constraints elect to outsource their EDI operations to an EDI Managed Services provider.

GXS & Inovis Merger

GXS & Inovis Announce Merger
Yesterday, two of the largest VANs in the EDI industry announced plans to merge in 2010.  Both GXS and Inovis have long histories serving global GXS & Inovis MergerEDI customers, and in some capacity their combination will likely affect most companies conducting B2B e-commerce.  GXS’ equity owner, Francisco Partners, will be the majority shareholder of the combined company, and GXS CEO Bob Segert will run the company.
With GXS clearly positioned to be in control of the combined company, I spent some time looking through blogs and EDI-related user groups to gauge the marketplace views on the merger.  The opinions being articulated were divergent based on source.

When Outsourcing is The Best Choice

Posted by Kevin Pierce
I am a weekend warrior (both in sports and other projects).  With ANX as the largest EDI vendor to the Automotive Aftermarket, I decided to embark on a project over my Thanksgiving holiday that would support both items.  This project would not only feed my inherent love of challenges, but it would also allow me to support the Automotive Aftermarket in a tangible manner by buying parts from numerous vendors.

EDI OutsourcingMy project for the holiday was simple.  Replace the suspension on one of my cars (an FJ Cruiser), turning it into the ultimate all terrain vehicle.  My initial plan was to replace the shocks and springs on the truck, giving it more...

Place Your Bets

Place Your Bets
I spent a few days recently in Las Vegas, primarily to attend an industry conference, but I also took a few moments to partake in one of Vegas’ main attractions.
 B2B Outsourcing, EDI Outsourcing
Guaranteed Success -  Sign me up!
I’m guessing many reading this blog have played roulette at some point, but for those who have not, it’s a fairly simple game.  Similar to other games of chance, one is able to place bets on colors (red or black) or numbers in the hope that your number, color, etc. will be realized and you will get a payout.  As you can probably guess, in the world of “chance” one has greater probability for success by placing multiple bets.  If you place chips on red, black and all numbers, you are guaranteed to win. ...

Superman to the Rescue...

Superman to the Rescue...

The #1 train, going downtown, departed 42nd Street Station.  The train, which I was on, had just entered the darkness of the tunnel when a “first” happened for me.  The train stopped on a dime with no warning.  The people standing (luckily I had a seat) flew forward in a synchronized motion.  Those holding onto poles, straps, etc. were no longer able to maintain their grips, and any concept of maintaining personal space abated as people fell on the floor in a blob.
From the window behind me, I saw a light racing toward us.  Another train passed within feet of the front car of our train, transitioning off a parallel track onto our track.  Within moments the conductor made an...
