Manage your vendors' access and make them pay for it!

    The case for outsourcing

Crisis is the mother of innovation. The history of mankind is full with new ideas that were born during or after a major crisis. On a national level, you can see countries like Germany and Japan, that despite bloody history and major national crisis, emerged to become economic super powers and created much technological advancement. On the other hand, countries like Switzerland, that was always neutral and peaceful, a are mainly famous for technological achievements like the cucko

Using the Cloud for Business Continuity

"Affordable business continuity" ranks up there with "governmental efficiency" on the list of oxymorons.  Or does it?  Business continuity is being transformed by the cloud.   The combination of multitenancy, affordable bandwidth, and secure access technologies is changing how companies architect disaster recovery.  The elastic nature of cloud computing enables companies to replicate in-house infrastructure and applications in the cloud in a matter of hours.  Moreover, cloud infrastructure providers like GoGrid feature variable pricing based on usage.  By moving more of the cost from fixed to variable, standby configurations like business continuity have become much more affordable.

Cloud Computing - The Devil is in the details

Unless you were living in a cave, far from any civilization, chances are you heard about The Cloud. The next big thing! The ultimate solution for all IT business illnesses. Of course, I am exaggerating but cloud initiatives are backed by major players like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, EMC and others.

Cloud means many things to many people: if you take the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) approach the cloud is a hosting solution that will eliminate the need for companies to maintain their own hardware, for others it is a utility service that will allow businesses to consume unlimited computing resources right when they need them ...

If you give a CFO a Cloud

Story TellerIf you give a CFO a cloud,

He’s going to ask for ROI analysis,

When you give him the ROI analysis,

He’ll probably ask you for an executive summary,

When he’s finished, he’ll ask for a meeting with the head of IT...

Cloud computing and the 1st amendment

ConstitutionI am regular member of the ANX blog squad, as such I am on the hook every other week to turn in my post. If that’s not enough the other ANX bloggers are pretty damn smart and creative, so there is a high standard to meet in order to stay in the game hence my creativity should stay on high alert all the time. Earlier this week I turned in my blog post and to my horror it was censored by our Chief Blog Inquisitor (that to say my Director of Marketing). I thought it was a great post (and so did he) but it was rated one notch above PG-13 hence could not be publishe...

Thank you for the ……… Spiderman!

At my 2½ year old son's pre-school, every Friday during morning recess their teacher grabs a guitar and plays a song that goes like this ....“Bless you our God and thank you for the …..”, then the teacher will point at one of the kids. The chosen kid will say what he is thankful for and then the teacher sings about what the kid selected and so on…

It's truly amazing to see how a 2½ year old kid is really thankful for the one little thing that is so important to them: Spiderman, flowers, my dog, my mommy….man I really miss my childhood!

    The wedding photo album

3 years ago a good friend of mine from Atlanta and his family drove back home. When they reached their subdivision they noticed their cul-de-sac was blocked by fire tracks, to their horror they saw that their house was in flames. The fire investigator concluded that the fire was caused by a power surge resulting from lighting that struck the house.  The house was burned completely with everything that was inside, luckily there was nobody home.

The next morning while walking through the remains of his house my friend found very few things that were not consumed by the fire. One of them was his wedding photo album. You can ...

Would you buy a cow for a glass of Milk?

Farmers who grow cows not just love their job but they must enjoy it! Otherwise I can’t really explain why they’ll wake up every morning at 4:00AM to Milk their cows. There is something special about growing cows and there is so much to know too. For example, if you want to get the most out of your cow you need to take good care of it, you need to keep it clean, you want to keep a comfortable temperature for it, you need to take care of it when it is sick, you need to know its favorite food etc. etc.

When I look at those farmers I am always amazed by how much they know and do. I am not a farmer, I understand nothin...
